About products and suppliers

A stretch film is a stretchable plastic wrap that binds items tightly and ensures they're well secured.

Types of Stretch Films

There are two main types of stretch films: hand stretch film and stretch wrap machine. A hand stretch film, just from the name, is designed to be applied manually using hands (using human labor). It is also referred to as hand stretch wrap, hand wrap, hand film, or manual pallet wrap. A hand stretch wrap roll improves the stability of wrapped items and reduces the risk of damaged products. However, the efficiency of a hand stretch film wrap is limited to wrapping a certain number of items per day.

On the other hand, machine stretch or a pallet wrap machine is a stretch film designed to be used on a stretch wrap machine. A machine stretch wrap provides more benefits than a hand stretch film. A machine stretch film is faster and offers more efficient and secure packaging, lower packaging costs and is safer. Some common machine stretch types include blown stretch film, cast stretch film, pre-stretched film, and speciality stretch film.

How to Choose a Good Stretch Film

Choosing the right plastic wrap roll can be the difference between having a well-secured cost-effective load, and wasting money on excessive material, product damage, and shipping costs. This is because the stretch film prevents your products from getting dirt and dust during storage and protects them from severe damage during transportation, storage, or moving.

Therefore, before buying a stretch film or a moving wrap consider the shape and weight of the items you intend to pack or ship. Choose a stretch film based on what each pallet load requires. Ensure the stretch film properly holds and contains the items in terms of positioning.

Pre-stretch limits are also important when choosing a pallet wrapping plastic or a furniture moving wrap. Different items require different levels of pre-stretch limits. Pre-stretch limits are the stretch film's maximum length between the two rollers of a machine, which rotate at various speeds. This relates to the number of loads each roll of moving plastic wrap can support. Therefore choose a stretch film that can support your good's stretch limit.
