About products and suppliers

Rotary cheese graters make quick work of grating some of the most popular types of cheese including cheddar and parmesan. Although most rotary graters and slicers are manual, the rotating cylinder lets you easily spin small, flat pieces of cheese along the gadget’s flat blades. The shredded cheese then conveniently falls into a waiting bowl or plate. This technique is much easier and safer than using a traditional or vintage rotary cheese grater with exposed, sharp edges.

How to Choose the Best Rotary Cheese Grater

There are many types of rotary cheese graters to choose from including stainless steel rotary cheese graters, metal rotary cheese graters and even rotary cheese graters made in Italy. Despite being made of different materials, most rotary cheese graters work in the same way. There are also several popular brands available including a Zyliss classic rotary cheese grater and Microplane rotary cheese grater.

A Zyliss rotary cheese grater and those like it let you insert your food of choice (in this case, cheese), into the hopper and secure the lid closed. Next, you press down on the lid, forcing the cheese against the rotating cylinder which is comprised of sharp or jagged teeth. At the same time, you use your other hand to crank the rotating drum, grating the cheese into small, fine, and delicious pieces!

How to Clean a Rotary Cheese Grater

Once you’re done preparing your food, it’s time for clean-up. Cleaning traditional cheese graters can be tricky. The sharp teeth make it difficult to remove all the cheese particles and pieces. When it comes to cleaning and washing a rotary grater and slicer, most gadgets come apart and are machine washable. You can also take apart the components and wash them by hand using mild soap, warm water, and a microfiber cloth or sponge. Just be mindful to wash opposite of the grading blades to prevent injury.
