What are hand tools?

Hand tools have existed in various forms and have been used since the beginnings of human civilization. They date back to the stone age and are still very much in use today. Hand tools are tools that are powered only by hand, rather than a fuel source, like electricity or gas. These tools don't have a motor or electrical parts. These tools are used in many different-sized jobs. Because there is no guiding machinery, hand tools require the precision and skill of the worker to be used optimally. Tools such as wrenches, hammers, and scalpels are all classified as hand tools.

What are hand tools used for?

Hand tools are used in many different jobs in many different trades. The automotive and construction industries are some of the biggest users of hand tools. Other industries that frequently use hand tools include gardening, logging, dentistry, and surgical work. Hand tools are also often used in residential settings for a variety of odd jobs and projects. They were used by workers to tighten bolts, saw wood, hammer nails, etc. The types of tools required depend on the job that is being done. Building a tree house, for example, would require a hammer, whereas performing surgery would not and would, instead, require a scalpel.

What are the different types of hand tools?

There are many different types of tools for a variety of jobs. The American Industrial Hygiene Association recognizes 12 types of hand tools. These are vises, clamps, saws, drills, screwdrivers, snips tools, knives, cutters, striking, pliers, wrenches, and hammered tools. Each of these categories contains many different types and variations of tools. For example, there are many different types of wrenches. These include torque wrenches, allen wrenches, and crescent wrenches. Other specific tools in different categories include screwdrivers, hacksaws, and chisels.
