About products and suppliers

A brushless DC motor is an electric motor that runs on direct current (DC) and does not have the mechanical brushes and commutator of a regular brush motor. Although the initial expenditures of a brushless DC electric motor are greater, it offers obvious benefits over a brush motor and is more cost-effective in the long term.

Advantages of Brushless DC Motors

Brushless motors offer several advantages over brushed DC motors such as significantly higher efficiency and performance and lower susceptibility to mechanical wear than their brushed counterparts. A brushless electric motor has a higher torque to weight ratio, increased efficiency producing more torque per watt, increased reliability, reduced noise, longer lifetime by eliminating brush and commutator erosion, and the elimination of ionizing sparks from the commutator. A brushless motor controller regulates the speed and torque of the motor. The brushless DC motor controller does this by detecting the position of the rotor either by using sensors (for example, a Hall-effect sensor) or sensorlessly.

What is a Brushless Generator?

A brushless generator uses a motor without carbon brushes to make electricity. Instead, a brushless motor uses a little generator on the end of the equipment to transfer electrical current. Brushless alternators are great for primary generators and capable of sustained long-term use. Brushless generator motors are easier to keep up than brushed generators with fewer moving parts to wash, repair, or replace. Fewer moving parts also means much less wear and tear on the alternator in the long run. The absence of brushes also eliminates overheating issues and breakdowns. With a brushless outrunner motor the magnets are attached to a hoop or sleeve on the surface of the stator coils. A brushless AC motor eliminates the brushes and commutator, which creates a cooler and more efficient motor that has less wear. For saving money and power an efficient brushless fan is better at converting electricity into mechanical power than a brushed DC motor fan.
