A 12V 200Ah lead-acid battery is a rechargeable battery that uses lead and sulphuric acid to function. The lead is submerged in sulphuric acid to allow a controlled chemical reaction. This chemical reaction causes the battery to produce electricity.

Types of lead-acid batteries: lead-fleece batteries

12V 200Ah lead-fleece batteries contain acid as an electrolyte, which is bound in a micro-glass fleece. With the glass fiber fleece, this rechargeable battery is maintenance-free and leak-proof. Thus, it can also be operated permanently in a lateral position. Additionally, it usually lasts longer than flooded variants and offers an improvement in speed and performance. Lead-fleece batteries belong to the valve-regulated lead-acid batteries. With them, it is possible to ensure that the amount of hydrogen and oxygen that can escape during charging is regulated. Therefore, these 12V 200Ah batteries are often used where a large amount of energy needs to be stored for a long time, for example, in the emergency power supply.

Types of lead-acid batteries: lead-gel batteries

12V 200Ah lead-gel batteries use liquid sulfuric acid as the electrolyte, which is bound with silica. This type features a valve that stops the electrolyte from leaking and is also entirely sealed. This makes them easier to transport, and they can also be operated in a lateral position. They are also virtually maintenance-free. Since no gas escapes from the sealed design, lead-gel batteries can be operated close to people and in enclosed spaces. Additionally, they can be used in areas with stricter environmental protection regulations, such as on watercraft.

Types of lead-acid batteries: pure lead batteries

12V 200Ah pure lead batteries are specially designed for particularly demanding applications in the industry. They also have a closed design. The electrode made of high-purity lead is thinner than that in a conventional lead-acid battery. The plates can also be made of a compound of lead and tin. This reduces the internal pressure in the pure lead battery, allowing rechargeable batteries to attain high power density.
